Where the boys aren't

I don't know what's up this year but I am NOT loving the boys on American Idol season six.

To be fair, three of the ten male singers tonight were worth listening to, IMHO. Blake's rendition of Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" was fun to watch and listen to. Chris covering Jason Mraz was good and Sundance's version of Mack Rice's "Mustang Sally" was bluesy and soulful (although it seems that he only knew one verse of the song and sang it twice).

For the rest, well...go home already! The judges keep telling them to "bring it" and that message is falling on tone deaf ears! You would have thought that after the spectacular performance of the majority of the girls last week that the boys would step up. Not so.

It would be totally unfair of me to blame the boys completely. I mean, seriously folks, shouldn't we be blaming the judges here? Aren't they the ones who settled on these 12 guys? And with all the men that auditioned, these are the 12 best? I find that really tough to believe.

It also makes me a little suspiscious. Are the producers TRYING to guarantee a female winner this year? I'm not trying to take anything away from the girls, it's just that the talent seems somewhat slanted in the women's column.

I think I'm gonna fire up my iTunes tonight and cleanse my aural palate. *sigh*
