Exhausted!
Yes, kids, I admit it...I'm totally wiped out. And I STILL have a 2-day trip to start and complete tomorrow! This airline will be the death of me yet. I don't think I have worked so many hours in a month, even when I was killing myself in the real, corporate world! ACK!
So, why write it out to you good folks who take the time to read blogs anyhow? Well, for one, I get to vent...and two, I get to practice my non-typing skills! ;)
I was really saddened on this trip though. A flight attendant with whom I worked with almost six years ago ended up on my trip this past two days. I was so looking forward to it. He was a great guy and full of useful tid-bits of trivia. Oh, how six years changes a person.
While I admit that I haven't walked in his pumps for any length of time, something was definately different about him. He was bitter, mean-spirited, critical and was simply down-right rude. How sad! One of my flying partners even tried to comfort me, expressing how sad she was that I had looked forward to seeing him again, only to be blasted by him on just about every count. Which makes me wonder: How well DO we really know anyone?
Sadly, when we parted ways, he didn't even say "goodbye" and that kind of stung. :(
I work with some really fun and exciting people, but I really think they are getting the tar beat out of them by the airline. our average work month has been increased by over 20 flight hours (that's a huge amount, for those of you unfamiliar with the industry...it's like squeezing another 40 hour work week into your already busy month). And daily 13 and 14 hour duty days are just squeezing the life out of some of the best, especially when they only get a 9 hour and 45 minute rest break inbetween duty days! ugh!
I shouldn't complain too much about it, 'cause it's still a very desirable job, and my employer is more than happy to continuously point out that on average over 5,000 people are fighting for each individual position here. What can you do? Replacing my income at my age is darn near impossible.
Oh well, I suppose I'll sleep well tonight...If I can only find that bottle of Ambien...crap! LOL
Have a great weekend, everybody. Happy Standard Time Change day -- and don't forget to check your smoke alarms and their batteries!
Much love!
